Today is what we are going to call Day Camping.
Since the sun is coming out this afternoon, we are going to take our matching hammocks to the park and enjoy the afternoon relaxing in the sun. It’s a beautiful day.

Tumblr, meet our tea collection.
My favorite is the Raspberry Zinger on the left. Ironically, it’s the cheapest. I also love the Harney & Sons green tea on the right. We have a couple different teas from Africa (MIL was born and raised there), some loose leaf from World Market, and of course our Republic of Teas.

This isn’t camping related, but I think you all should see our other love. TEA. We have quite the collection. This is the scaled down collection too. We just threw out a bunch of tea that we will never drink.

I am saddened to say

That we canceled our camping trip this weekend. The weather is brutal. If it was just rain, we would have gone. But the lightening, thunder, and wind are just too much. Our whole spring break is going to be like this. It’s quite miserable.

We will continuously monitor next weekend’s weather and hopefully can sneak a trip in Friday and Saturday nights. If not, we won’t be camping until April because all the other weekends in March are booked (for things like Lisa’s first 10K!).

So don’t worry, we will not abandon our blog. Please, please stay with us.

So I’ll leave you with this:

Here is the state park we are visiting this week. It’s a new one to us as in we have never been before. It looks beautiful. We love all of the trees and landscape. Don’t worry, photos will be taken. Now we just need Mother Nature to be nice to us.

Anonymous: super curious, but how did you guys meet? (:
This Married Couple Camps: You should sit down for this. It’s an interesting story.  How we met as told by Lisa: It began in high school. I went on a couple of dates with a boy from my school. He was an interesting fellow, but besides those two dates, it really had no potential. You wanna know why, Anon? On our first date he took me over to my now husband’s house (who I had never met) to hang out with all their guy friends. As soon as we walked in, my date sat on the couch and started playing Xbox. ON OUR FIRST DATE! I just stood there because I knew no one and had no where to sit. Taylor offered me a chair right away. You guys, he offered me a chair! Then we ended up talking for a good while before everyone decided it would be a good idea to go see Hitman. You remember that shoot ‘em up movie, right? Here I was on a date with a boy and six of his closest friends, and we were seeing a movie I would never see myself. Worst first date ever except for the whole Taylor crushing on me part (which he does admit began that night). The next date with this boy was the exact same except it was billiards over at Taylor’s house. My date didn’t say more than one sentence to me that entire night. Meanwhile, Taylor talked to me the whole time. So after the “date” that boy drove me home and dumped me because he couldn’t see us together. I can’t say I was disappointed. He did go back to Taylor’s house and told everyone I cried WHICH NEVER HAPPENED! I told my mom about the whole ordeal that night. She said there was someone else out there for me. I kid you not, I told her I had my eye on Taylor.  The next day he contacted my on Myspace (omg Myspace) and asked for my number. We texted for a few days before he asked me on a date. Then he held my hand. Then he asked me to be his girlfriend. Then he kissed me. Then he told me he loved me. All in a couple of weeks’ time.  And that’s the story of how these two love birds met.  As told by Taylor: I asked my buddy’s ex-girlfriend out. Married her.

Here we are testing the hammock I bought Taylor for Christmas.

After using it on our most recent trip, we decided that I needed one as well. As the weather gets warmer, we plan to ditch the tent and sleep in the “his & her’s” hammocks.

This is just how we do things here.

A little introduction…

I am Taylor. You may know me as “T” from Lisa’s blog. I don’t know how much you know about me so here is the crash course.

  • I work as a system’s administrator and in the media & marketing department for a medium sized company outside of Austin.
  • I am the oldest of five siblings.
  • Lisa and I have been married for a little less than a year.
  • I am a bit of a perfectionist and minimalist.
  • I enjoy a great cup of tea.
  • I love my wife and I love camping.

As Lisa said, we have not camped very much in the past few years, but we plan to ramp that up quite a bit. At the most, we have camped at drive-up sites or hike in a couple hundred yards. Our goal is to start doing some serious camping.

There is going to be a little bit of a challenge element for me because I am not very athletically inclined. Hopefully this will be a step in a right direction.

I am not a part of the tumblr community, but I look forward to jumping in.
